Phil Laskawy, Trustee Vice Chairman

Phil Laskawy retired as the Chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young on September 30, 2001.

He joined the firm in 1961 after graduating from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Economics. Progressing through the ranks of the audit services practice, he was admitted to the firm’s partnership in 1971.

He became Managing Partner of the New York Office in 1981, and in 1985 was named Vice Chairman and Managing Partner of the New York Region and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Phil became Chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young in 1994 and held that position until his retirement in 2001.

Phil currently serves on the boards of:

  • Capgemini,
  • Discover Financial Services,
  • General Motors Corporation,
  • Henry Schein, Inc., and Loews Corporation.
  • Dance Theater Foundation (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater) and
  • Educational Broadcasting Corporation (thirteen WNET/New York).
