Vacancy: Chairman, Standards Advisory Council

The Trustees of the IASC Foundation wish to appoint a chairman of the SAC, who would devote approximately one week per month to the SAC’s work. The term of the chairman would begin on 1 January 2009 and expire on 31 December 2011.
Qualified candidates should be committed to the IASB’s mission as a high quality and independent global standard-setter, be financially knowledgeable, and be able to meet the time commitment.
The chairman should have an understanding of international issues relevant to the development of global accounting standards for use in the world’s capital markets and have a general knowledge of the standard-setting environment. |

The chairman’s responsibilities will include:
- ensuring that the membership, comprising representatives of organisations, is actively engaged in the SAC’s work,
- monitoring the progress of the IASB’s work programme,
- working closely with the IASB and its staff to identify items on which the SAC’s advice should be sought,
- ensuring the preparation of timely and appropriate materials to facilitate the conduct of SAC meetings,
- chairing SAC meetings, and
- acting as chief liaison between the SAC and the Trustees and IASB.
The chairman will receive an annual stipend of £75,000.
