Vacancies: Trustees of the IASC Foundation


The Trustees of the IASC Foundation seek candidates to fill vacancies for Trustees that will become available in January 2009.

The Trustees are seeking one Trustee each from Asia-Oceania, Europe and North America. In particular, the Trustees have emphasised their interest in identifying qualified candidates with a background in an investment organisation.

Qualified candidates should have experience as a senior professional or executive in an organisation with an interest in accounting standards.

They should demonstrate a firm commitment to the IASC Foundation and the IASB as a high quality global standard-setter, be financially knowledgeable, and be able to meet the time commitment, which includes but is not limited to four two-day meetings each year.

Each Trustee should have an understanding of, and be sensitive to, the challenges associated with the adoption and application of high quality global accounting standards developed for use in the world’s capital markets and by other users.

The appointments will be from 1 January 2009 until 31 December 2011. All terms may be renewed for three further years.

Trustees’ responsibilities include:

  • ensuring financing for the organisation;
  • appointments to the IASB, the International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee and the Standards Advisory Council; and
  • general oversight of the organisation, including consideration of the IASB’s work programme.
