Translations

The objective of the Translation initiative is to provide non-English speakers with access to IFRSs in their own language.

Although the official language of the IASB is English, translation is a necessary and vital part of achieving the IASC Foundation’s mission to develop a single set of global accounting standards.

The IASC Foundation supports countries that adopt IFRSs as legislation, and this often requires translation. For more information on adopting IFRSs in English or in another language, please see the section on Adoption and copyright.

To ensure high-quality translations, official translations have been performed by professional translators and reviewed by a committee of accounting experts. Please see the Official translation process and policies page for more information on the procedure that is followed to produce an official translation.

Official translations are available in a number of different languages, and the Available translations page contains more information on this.

The IASC Foundation also translates some educational material and the XBRL taxonomy. Some translations of exposure drafts and discussion papers are also available.
