IFRS-GP 2007 Taxonomy – Release of New Draft

17 January 2007

The IASC Foundation XBRL Team is pleased to announce the release of the second iterative draft of the IFRS-GP (2007), staged on our IFRS Taxonomy Versioning Ladder.

 See: http://www.iasb.org/xbrl/taxonomies/taxonomy_ladder.html

Taxonomy Versioning Ladder
As announced at the XBRL International XBRL Conference last December in Philadelphia, it is the intention of our Taxonomy Development Team to regularly post versions of drafts of the IFRS-GP as changes and improvements are made. The Versioning Ladder provides a complete audit trail of changes made to the taxonomy and the reasons for those changes.  It uses as a base the IFRS differencing linkbase technology developed in our .

See: http://www.iasb.org/xbrl/news/2006_12_04_versioning.html

Ultimately, it will use our full IFRS taxonomy versioning mechanism, once it has been fully developed and tested.

Changes in this Draft
Close inspection of our 2005 and 2006 taxonomies has shown that on a financial statement component by component basis (e.g. balance sheet, income statement, etc), the presentation and calculation linkbase pairings are not always consistent.  To detect inconsistencies and to help remedy this problem in this draft version, we have used our recently developed IFRS-GP Taxonomy Presentation Calculation Consistency Checker. Click here to view the announcement and to see the tool.

Feedback
Please note that the draft taxonomies posted to the Versioning Ladder are drafts for IFRS jurisdiction and XBRL Consortium feedback purposes only, and should be used in conjunction with our CoreFiling TRAX taxonomy commenting system.
